Technical Network Engineer

Core Purpose:
Ensure quality standards are met by evaluating, designing, and preparing specifications for complex networks and communication systems, while supervising direct reports.

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure compliance with Next Job and client standards.
  • Expert knowledge in BGP, OSPF, advanced OSI troubleshooting, and MPLS.
  • Knowledge of HP Aruba Wireless, Juniper switching, Mikrotik routers, and Ubiquiti wireless.
  • Advanced networking qualifications (CCNP / CCIE / MTCINE).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like PRTG, Wireshark, and Airwave.
  • Troubleshoot network faults, including MPLS and wireless link issues.
  • Configure networking and switching equipment.
  • Design solutions for ongoing faults and client requests.
  • Conduct remote troubleshooting and liaise with third-party providers.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning.

Core Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of processes, procedures, and ITIL principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN and communication systems.

Qualifications:

  • Matric or Grade 12 (NQF4).
  • A+ and N+ certifications.

Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in Cisco networking.
  • Experience with Juniper network equipment is advantageous.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to collaborate with heads of departments and adapt to client workflows.
  • Work closely with team members, contractors, and vendors.
